On a leg this wide there is no silhouette to read, so the lines do the work: they give the outside of the leg an edge, which makes it look narrower from the front while the cut stays wide. They run the full length without a break at the knee, where the cloth changes direction, so the band has to be set on a panel that can take that bend. And the line is a solid yarn; a marled one vanishes into the speckle.

The waist gathers wide but the leg leaves it flat, with no pleat at the hip, so the band starts straight and the front stays smooth while sitting. The fleece has weight, so it drops and holds the leg away from the calf, and the extra inseam sets the hem down on the shoe instead of stopping above it.

Cool months, and any warm interior. Made for the street, campus and travelling, and for getting to the gym. Keep the top cropped so the band reads, and put a thick sole under the hem or it will scuff. Nothing else needs to be doing much. It falls right on any build, whatever the frame.
