Stitching a heavy patch onto denim is where this goes wrong: the two cloths shrink at different rates, so the patch is shrunk first and then set with a double row of stitch, or its edge ripples once washed and the panel starts to lift off the body. The splatter comes after sewing, done by hand in several passes, so no two jackets carry the same marks and the pattern cannot be reproduced from a file.

Denim does not give, so the body stands away from the chest and the shoulder keeps its line instead of collapsing. The hood carries weight at the neck, which holds it up and lets it sit back when down, and the ribbed cuff stops the sleeve sliding over the hand.
